Neubercart

Rationale

We developed the Ubercart Coupon Referral (uc_coupon_referral) module because every company wants to promote their products and services as much as they can, but many companies are hyper sensitive to the negative reputational impact of looking like a spammer. Word-of-mouth advertising is a proven way to promote a brand in a safe and socially responsible way, and it has been shown that people are far more likely to engage in it if they get something in return for access to their social network, good name and reputation. So we developed a coupon based system that rewards both sides if a word-of-mouth promotion is successful.

Functionality

The module provides a unique Referral Coupon Code to all members that appears at the top of the Coupon tab provided by the Ubercart Coupon List (uc_coupon_list) module. People copy the code and forward it to their friends using external email and/or social media channels. If a friend uses the code while completing a qualifying purchase, the associated discount is immediately applied to that order. Once the order is fully paid, the referring member receives a Referral Reward Coupon in their Coupons tab that qualifies them for a discount on a future purchase. Because all purchases require registration, the friend has now become a member, so they also their a personalized Referral Coupon Code that they can now use for their own word-of-mouth promotional efforts.
